Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Steward app and website. By using either, you agree to these terms. We've kept them readable on purpose.

What Steward is (and isn't)

Steward is a personal planning and life management tool. It is designed to support your day-to-day wellbeing, but it is not:

  • Medical, therapeutic, or clinical advice
  • A substitute for professional mental health care
  • A crisis intervention tool

If you're in immediate danger or feel you might harm yourself, call your local emergency number now. If you can, reach out to someone you trust. You can also find free, confidential crisis support in your country via Find a Helpline or the IASP crisis centre directory. You don't have to handle this on your own.

Your responsibilities

When using Steward, you agree to:

  • Use the app lawfully and in a way that doesn't harm others.
  • Keep your device and data secure. Since your data is stored locally, your device's security is your data's security.
  • Not reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app.

Subscriptions and purchases

Steward offers in-app purchases and subscriptions:

Pricing and payment

  • Steward Core is a one-time purchase that unlocks all non-AI features permanently.
  • Steward AI and Bring Your Own Key are auto-renewable subscriptions available on a monthly or yearly basis.
  • Prices are displayed in your local currency within the app. Actual prices may vary by region and are determined by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.

Free trial

  • Eligible yearly subscriptions include a free trial period. The duration is shown before you subscribe.
  • You can use the full app during the trial. AI features are limited to a small number of requests per day.
  • If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the displayed price.
  • Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited if you purchase a subscription before the trial ends.

Auto-renewal and cancellation

  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
  • Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the subscription price you agreed to.
  • You can manage or cancel your subscriptions at any time:
    • iOS: Settings → your name → Subscriptions
    • Android: Google Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You'll continue to have access until then.
  • We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods. Refund requests should be directed to Apple or Google, as they process all payments.

AI features

Steward includes optional AI-powered features. Please understand that:

  • AI responses are not professional advice of any kind — medical, legal, financial, or otherwise.
  • AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate. Always use your own judgment.
  • If you use your own API key (BYOK), you are responsible for your relationship with that AI provider, including costs and their terms of service.
  • We are not liable for the output of third-party AI providers.

Intellectual property

The Steward app, website, design, and content are owned by Steward and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute them without permission.

Your data is yours. We don't claim any ownership or rights over the content you create in Steward.

End-user licence agreement (EULA)

By downloading or using Steward, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these terms. This licence does not allow you to:

  • Distribute, sublicense, or make the app available to third parties.
  • Modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works based on the app.
  • Use the app for any commercial purpose without our written consent.

We may terminate this licence at any time if you breach these terms. Upon termination, you must stop using and delete the app.

Limitation of liability

Steward is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for any data loss, whether from device failure, app bugs, or uninstallation.
  • We are not liable for decisions made based on AI-generated content.
  • Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Steward in the 12 months before the claim, if anything.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and let you know through the app or by email. Continued use of Steward after changes means you accept the updated terms.
